Day 8.5 OTS

Soo...probably was wondering what ".5" of a day is on the snow??

I spent day 8.5 on the snow with my sister and her kids in Flagstaff at a snow play area for sleds. My sister dropped me a call and said she and the family would be in Flagstaff, Az the past weekend. Not having spent any real time with my kid sister in a lot of years, I welcomed the opportunity to meet up with a drive in from Albuquerque, NM.

Knowing my sister and family was from Phoenix, I signed up to bring up some snow toys for all to play on. I loaded up several SkiBikes and sleds and met up with her and the family in Flagstaff. We found a neat little snow play area outside of the flag staff area and had a blast with her and her family of a husband and 4 kids for about 3 hours until everyone in her family was wet and cold (not us..we all had snow clothes) and we called it a day. We had a blast hiking up the sleds and Skibikes and ridding them down through the trees. I hiked up my bike several times..100's of feet up the hill for some really cool rides down some at a minute to almost 2 minutes down. The hill was terraced and made it easier to hike up. Great exercise, lots of fun...best of all free!! We finished up the afternoon in the bar back at the Hotel and finally a dinner with her and her husband.

On the way out of town on Sunday, we stopped at a neat little local ski area I had never heard of called Elk Ridge Ski outside of Williams, Az. Tiny little area, with a rope tow and 1 Poma lift and about 6 runs. Williams is the train station depot for the Grand Canyon Railroad. I have to come back in the summer to see more of this place. We chatted with them on getting access to the area for our bikes and was very well received. We pulled out one of the Metalworx bikes and let them take a few runs. Boy was that a mistake!!! All we heard was grown man giggling from that point forward!! We decided to leave the bike with them and let the manager we chatted with, show his other partners. As we headed down into the parking lot, we continued to hear them giggling and laughing while trying to get that Metalworx up the rope tow lift!! Wish I could have captured it on film!!

That’s what I consider my day 8.5 OTS (on The Snow!!)

Peace, love and SkiBikes.
